So, what is a trojan hose virus? It is a nasty program that can create a server on your computer. This server can shut down and mess with your anti-virus programs, especially free ones. When a hacker connects to this server installed on your computer, he is open to do a wide variety of things with your computer. He can download and view all of your files, he can monitor your keystrokes and steal your passwords or credit card information, he can even take screen shots of your monitor in real time! Trojans can come from websites, programs, music, movies, whatever you choose to install/download on your computer.

This leads me to my story

I used to be addicted to download movies through torrents. I know, this isn't ethical, and I don't do it anymore, but I learned a great lesson. I had downloaded a movie, watched it, and it was great... great until a week after when my bank account was drained. I couldn't believe it when I saw it. I was actually a victim of a cyber crime! I didn't think this was possible at all, there's so many people out there why me? Well the fact is, and a case study in one of my classes can back this up, cyber crime is real and happens to thousands of people. I was using a free antivirus known as AVG free addition, but this nasty trojan horse virus didn't even get phased by this program. At this point I'm thinking "wait, I'm a computer networking student, have 9 years of pc trouble shooting experience, and I got taken advantage of by this trojan". If this can happen to me it can happen to you, think about it. I only got robbed of about 200$ and it took me 4 months to get it back. If a hacker gained access to your main bank account with thousands, you'd be screwed for awhile.

Well because of this, I decided to go out and do a ton of research on trojan horse virus removal, because I had a nasty one, that my free AVG didn't catch. It took me awhile to take this virus off my computer, lots of trial and error, and I couldn't use my PC until it was totally clean. I hated living in fear that my computer was infected and all my personal information could be gone.
